I DO NOT HAVE THE CORRECT ID. CAN I STILL TAKE THE COURSE?

No, as this is a requirement to take all courses and the examinations or assessments.

I HAVE A CRIMINAL RECORD. CAN I STILL GET A LICENCE?

The SIA will check your criminal record history for the last 5 years. If you have any convictions, they will ask you to explain the circumstances and the SIA will decide whether to grant you a licence. Convictions within the last 12 months relating to violence, deception or theft are not usually considered acceptable.

IS THE COST OF AN SIA LICENCE INCLUDED IN THE PRICE OF THE COURSE?

The standard cost for an SIA (Security Industry Authority) licence is £184. This fee is the same for both new applications and renewals, and is valid for a 3-year period, except for vehicle immobiliser licences which last for 1 year. If you are applying for multiple licences, a 50% discount is applied to subsequent licences.

I HAVE NOT LIVED IN THE COUNTRY FOR THE LAST 5 YEARS. IS THIS A PROBLEM?

The SIA will check your address history for the time that you have lived in the UK, but you must supply a police check from the country that you lived in previously to make up the full 5 years.
