Moving People Safely delivered by DJD Consultants in partnership with RDS.

This qualification is aimed at anyone involved in the movement and assistance of people and is intended as a further development qualification. It is also suitable as refresher training.

This is underpinned by the safe principles of moving and handling but recognises the special skills required when assisting and moving people.

This course can also be delivered at your workplace for a minimum cost of £450 inclusive of VAT.

The Level 2 Award in Safe Moving of People (RQF) certificated by Highfield Qualification is also available.

This qualification is a combination of assessment and multiple choice exams.Both units can be delivered in the workplaces with access to a working hoists on dates agreed with the employers or at RDS’ Centre. The cost of the Highfield accredited course is £120 inclusive of VAT.

This 4 parts are:

Unit 1: Manual Handling Safely at Work

Part 1 tests candidates’ knowledge on the subject and is assessed by a 30 minute, 15 question multiple-choice examination. Successful candidates must score at least 10 out of 15 to pass this element of the qualification. The examination is set and marked by Highfield. Results are instant if taken at RDS office.

Part 2 is a competency-based assessment carried out by the Nominated Tutor. Candidates must practically demonstrate the application of the correct techniques in all the identified common workplace activities indicated within the qualification.

Unit 2: Moving People Safely

Successful candidates must score at least 10 out of 15 to pass this element of the qualification. The examination is set and marked by Highfield. Results are instant if at RDS office.

Part 2 is a competency-based assessment carried out by the Nominated Tutor. Candidates must practically demonstrate the application of the correct techniques in all the identified common workplace activities indicated within the qualification. This section includes the use of a hoist and rota stand.

Delivery can be fully at the workplace but will require a minimum of four learners. The practical must include:

One person

  • Assist sitting to standing / Assist standing to sitting / Assist to walk
  • Move a wheelchair including up and down kerb

Two persons

  • Assist sitting to standing / Assist standing to sitting / Assist to walk
  • Assist to walk with the use of a walking frame

An additional choice of using equipment on site to demonstrate must include the use of hoist or rota stand and can also include:

  • Assist in / out of bed
  • Using slide sheets
  • Other ancillary equipment such as a hoist

You will be required to produce proof of identity for the course and examination. ID will be required on the day of training. Without the ID you will NOT BE ALLOWED to take the examination.  As an example you could bring your driving licence, bus pass, passport, bank card etc.
