Funded Courses

RDS Training are offering a number of Funded courses for unemployed and low income (less than £15k per year) living in the East Riding & Hull areas.

RDS Courses are funded by the Skills Funding Agency & European Social Fund through CITB, Encompass & HLC,  Hull City Council and HCUK (employed / self employed).


Traineeship Course (funded by HLC)

Course consists of;

  • Level 1 Diploma in Personal Development (contains units
    relating to retail and customer service)
  • Functional skills English & Maths
  • Work sector qualification of your choice (Beauty, Construction, Health & Social Care or Security)
  • 100 hours of paid work experience throughout the six months duration of the course.

Licence or specific job role requirements e.g. DBS will be provided once placement has been successfully completed.
No fee – fully funded; To be eligible you must be 18 – 23, not hold a level 3 qualification and not working more than 16 hours per week.

Classroom hours are 9am – 4pm over 10 weeks. Some work Experience hours will be completed during the 10 weeks allocated as classroom hours. The remaining hours will after the classroom hours with the intention of securing ongoing employment for a minimum of 8 weeks.

Construction course (funded by CITB and is in connection with the Humber Construction Hub that will be built near Kingswood)

Level 1 Health & Safety in the Construction Environment course, onscreen test and card. LEP employability passport
Work experience and hopefully employment (we can arrange this or you can use your own contacts).

Eligibility is 18+, not working and living in the Humber area.
Enrollment is ongoing.
Personal development qualification must be completed prior to the CITB sections of the course. This can be done at your own pace with the support of a teacher.

Health & Social Care course (funded by Encompass and HLC dependent on postcode)

Free for unemployed or low income (less than £15K) aged 24 years or more living in the Hull or East Riding areas.
Level 2 Diploma in Team Leading.
Highfield Care Certificate – including infection control, safe moving of people, mental capacity, safeguarding, medication training
Trained and interviewed by DJD Consultants. Work available.

Free SIA (door supervisor, CCTV or Security Guarding) courses with SIA licence (funded by CLLD, Hull City Council)

Free to eligible individuals who live in either Bransholme, East Hull, North Hull or Orchard Park and Central Hull. This funding is postcode specific. Age bracket is 18 – 65 years old. Must have evidence of unemployment benefits or not being able to work. Only one SIA course and licence is fundable but RDS may be able to fund additional course with other funding streams.

Funded Level 2 Diploma in Team Leading with Free SIA (door supervisor, CCTV or Security Guarding) courses with SIA licence.

Alternative free course is also available such as first aid (funded by Encompass or HLC dependent on postcode)

If you do not qualify for CLLD funding and you are 24 years or older we have this alternative for you. This is a three week course (one week distance learning, two weeks classroom). You will achieve two qualifications in three weeks (additional time will be allowed if required).

Free for Self – employed aged 19 years or more Level 2 Certificate in Nail Technology course with Acrylic Unit on completion (funded by HCUK)

This course is for the Self – employed people who are registered with HMRC and have a UTR number, not hold a full level three qualification, have a UK national insurance number and have lived in the UK for the last 3 years. 6 – 8 weeks (one day per week, either Thursdays or Fridays) classroom course, 09:30am until 3:30pm.

Want to get a job? Free for 18 – 65 year olds (funded by CLLD, Hull City Council)

RDS will help you to update your CV, job search, arrange interviews and get feedback from those interviews. We will work with you while you in a relaxed environment to find the job you want. RDS will also provide any small training courses that you might need to take up your employment such food safety, manual handling or CSCS.

Want to improve your IT Skills?

RDS can offer you a course to improve your IT skills and gain you an additional qualification such as English, Maths or level 2 customer service. IT is not funded but we can combine this qualification with another one from our suite to enable you to access the BKSB IT package which is recognised and certificated.

level 2 Award in Door Supervisor course (funded by ESFA through Encompass & HLC)

This course is for the unemployed people who are claiming some form of benefits(this includes income support for household earnings less than £15000 per year), not hold a full level three qualification, have a UK national insurance number and have lived in the UK for the last 3 years. You must be living in the Hull or East Riding areas. 5 days classroom which consists of 32.5 hours classroom time, 9am until 5pm. Free for unemployed aged 24 years or more Level 2 Award in CCTV course (funded by ESFA through Encompass & HLC)

This course is for 24+, unemployed people and those who are claiming some form of benefits (this includes income support for household earnings less than £15000 per year), not hold a full level three qualification, have a UK national insurance number and have lived in the UK for the last 3 years. 4 days classroom which consists of 28 hours classroom time, 9am until 5pm. You must have sufficient identification to take this course https://www.sia.homeoffice.gov.uk/Pages/licensing-document-groups.aspx. SIA licence is not included but not required for directly employed positions.

Free for unemployed aged 19 years or more Functional Skills English, Maths and / or IT course (funded by ESFA through HLC)

This course is for the employed or unemployed people who do not hold a full level one functional skill / GCSE equivalent qualification, have a UK national insurance number and have lived in the UK for the last 3 years. This course is delivered over two days per week and will improve your IT skills during the course. Some employed people do qualify for this funding but we would have to check eligibility on a individual basis.You must be 19 years old or over.
